There are many ways that we can feed and water our gardens. Consider covering the soil to maintain the moisture, with cover crops, straw, landscaping fabric or even newspaper. Watering where the plants are and under the soil cover, rather than the surface of exposed soil -where evaporation is high and soil erosion of precious top soil occurs- can save water and reduce risks of over-watering and drowning our precious green babies before they produce our colourful and flavourful bounty.
